| It would be nice to have a close option, either next to the open button or as a menu choice from file dropdown.
Close button would set all preferences back to system defaults with exception of CCL license number.
If no close, preferences would remain in effect.
Second choice a button on general tab of preferences that would reset system default this may be easier option.

| It would be best to add a button to the preferences dialogue.
You would need to specifiy which settings you mean as there are a large number.
