 AdminWindows 10 Creators Update
Creators Update for Windows 10 currently has very slow text rendering, around 40 times slower than previous Windows versions. This makes song changes slow, up to 5 seconds when using shadow and outline font effects. I would not recommend 'upgrading' to Creators Update until this issue is fixed.

Unfortunately the Creators Update had already happened in April before I realised the effect it caused on Songview. All Windows 10 updates are automatic and compulsory so every laptop I have access to has already had this update. Except the old Vista Basic one - that's working fine! Will we have to wait and just hope that Microsoft fix this issue in the next update?

Thanks Alec. I found that I could reverse the Creators Update after installing it. If you can still do that it does not ask again if you want to install it or try to install it automatically. So I think it was an optional updste as long as you uninstall it if you dont want it! Microsoft logic! They should have had many complaints about the text rendering by now though, unless they are going to blame the graphics drivers.

The option to roll back to the previous Anniversary update was only available for 10 days, and it was much longer than this before I realised that there was an issue with Songview. It would be necessary to downgrade to Anniversary if you could find the ISO but I don't think that it is still available. As far as I can find out it is only possible to defer an update with Windows 10 Pro and I've got the Home version. I have found a few other complaints about slow test rendering. There are more complaints about custom downloaded fonts being removed.

For now you can get round this problem by going into Windows Advanced System Settings and disabling 'Smooth edges of screen fonts'. Hopefully the next Songview update will solve the problem.

That certainly solves the speed issue. Unfortunately it also makes it rather difficult to read ordinary text, such as typing this comment. I've found that the delay is negligible when I removed Outline from the song words but kept Shadow on 3pix.

The latest version 4.512 works much better with Creators Update.
